Frequently Asked Questions

Questions people actually ask. Answered straight.

Hosting, support requests, project process and pricing, SEO — the stuff you'd otherwise have to email me to find out.

Hosting Questions

Basic hosting at $12/mo includes 250 MB — comfortable for a static site or a straightforward CodeIgniter site, with room for pages, images, and email. Managed and Managed Plus start at 500 MB. If you outgrow your plan, additional storage is available in 1 GB increments, and you'll have the exact quota in writing before anything goes live.

Yes, on every plan — Basic, Managed, and Managed Plus. SSL and email accounts on your own domain aren't upsells; they're baseline on all three tiers.

Backups are built into my maintenance retainers — the Basic retainer includes monthly backups, and Managed Plus hosting covers ongoing upkeep on top of that. If a hosting-only plan is what you want and backups matter to you, say so when we scope it and I'll build a schedule into the plan.

Yes. Send me access to wherever it's currently hosted and migrating it over is part of getting you set up — not a separate line item.

I'm the same person who configured the server, so if something breaks I'm the one fixing it — not a ticket queue. Reach out and I aim to respond within one business day; Managed Plus hosting and priority-support retainers get faster turnaround.

Yes, on every plan. On Basic you hold the cPanel account directly. On Managed and Managed Plus I'm hosting it for you, but the files and data are still yours — nothing here is locked to a platform only I control.

Requesting Work & Support

The domain or site name, what you're seeing versus what you expected, screenshots or the exact text of any error message, when it started, how urgent it is, and any logins or access I'll need to get in and look.

Within one business day. That's the baseline for everyone; Managed Plus hosting and priority-support retainer clients get a faster lane.

Each retainer tier comes with a monthly hours allotment — Basic covers small content edits, Growth adds 1–2 hours of dev work, Full-Service covers 5–10 hours. Send requests by email as they come up and I track them against that month's hours; anything beyond the allotment gets quoted separately or billed hourly.

There's a rush tier for urgent hourly work ($85–$120/hr) if something needs same-day attention outside normal turnaround. Managed Plus hosting and Full-Service retainer clients also get priority support with a dedicated contact, which is the closest thing to a guaranteed fast lane.

Web & Software Development

Four steps: Discovery, where we talk through your goals and audience — a real conversation, not a form. Design & Build, coded from scratch and structured for SEO from day one. Deploy, where hosting, domain, DNS, SSL, and email get wired up and the site goes live. Ongoing, because hand-off isn't the finish line — updates and new work keep happening after launch.

A typical 5–20 page Bootstrap site runs 1–3 weeks depending on how ready your content is. CodeIgniter or Vue applications take longer and get a timeline once we've scoped the project — those aren't off-the-shelf builds.

Development packages run $1,500–$25,000 depending on scope, and monthly retainers run $50–$1,500 depending on how much ongoing work you need. Full pricing and what's in each tier is on the Services page. Website projects are billed 50% deposit up front, 50% at launch.

Yes. It's your site, built for you — not licensed to you.

No page builders, no WordPress themes, no bloated frameworks — every site is hand-coded. The template gallery is a set of hand-built starting points with live color-theme switching; even those get refined into your actual brand, not left as-is.

Yes — that's most of what I do beyond client websites. CodeIgniter and Vue/Node applications, and AI integration when it earns its place, not for its own sake. See the Software page for what's actually running in production.

SEO & Content

Yes. Every build ships with SEO meta, a sitemap, GA4, and Search Console set up before launch — that's baseline, not an add-on. Ongoing SEO monitoring is part of the Growth and Full-Service retainers, and it's built into Managed Plus hosting too.

Yes — that happens during discovery for a new build, and it continues as part of the ongoing SEO monitoring on Growth and Full-Service retainers.

I can, but the strongest content is usually a collaboration — you know your business and customers better than I do, so you provide the substance and I structure and optimize it for search. Full-Service retainer clients get ongoing content updates as part of the plan.

Indexing is quick — Google usually finds a new site within days of launch. Ranking is slower and takes months of consistent work: content, links, technical health, all compounding over time. I don't guarantee rankings, and anyone who promises you the #1 spot is selling you something.
